Meet Jayne Sabio, Head of Sixth Form at Tettenhall College!
The Sixth Form experience at Tettenhall College is a vibrant one. Students explore new interests, take on leadership challenges, and enjoy the academic rigor and pastoral care that will prepare them for university and beyond.
Our Sixth Form is a close-knit community and we pride ourselves on providing individual attention under the guidance of Personal Tutors in an exceptional learning environment.
Our academic curriculum enables students to choose from a wide range of subjects for their A Levels. In addition to this, the school offers a foundation course for those who speak English as a second language.
The Sixth Form has a broad and diverse student body, both British and international, who provide the school with its unique international and cultural dimension. Through our wide range of extra-curricular activities and personal development opportunities, every student is expected to take responsibility and play an active role in shaping the life of the school.
We recognise that to succeed in the outside world our students need to be resourceful and resilient, ready to take initiative and work in a team. We aim to develop in our Sixth Form students not only excellent A Level results but also skills and attitudes that will help them make the most of life beyond Tettenhall College.
A Level requirements and entry to the College’s Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) depend on sufficient success at GCSE level: Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs or above in Grade 5 (Sixth Form students study subjects such as further maths, science etc.), plus an interview with the Headmaster.
The requirements for A-Level study differ significantly from those for GCSEs. Support and guidance are provided by all staff, particularly the Home Tutor, Personal Tutor, and Sixth Form Head of School, who maintain close contact with students throughout their two years in Sixth Form. Tutors support students with any day-to-day concerns and serve as a source of advice and encouragement. Personal Tutors will also help students navigate and understand the UCAS system when applying to universities, provide references, and offer advice on preparing personal statements. We encourage all our students to maximize their chances of success while preparing for study and employment beyond Tettenhall College.
As part of their development, Sixth Form students also take on leadership roles within the school or competitive school structures, strengthening their preparation for social responsibilities in the outside world. Not only do our Sixth Form students benefit in terms of confidence and communication skills, they also provide role models for younger students.
Our Sixth Form makes a vital contribution to the whole school and our students leave with a sense of pride and achievement, ready to take on their next challenge.
We would welcome the opportunity to take you on a tour, understand your goals and discuss how we can help you achieve them. For further information about our Sixth Form, please contact our Admissions Team on +44 (0)1902 751119 or email admissions@tettcoll.co.uk
